Inclement Weather- Weather at the Grand Canyon can vary greatly by the minute and by the location within the Canyon. We want SAFE TOURS and will never put clients in a position of danger. High winds exist, especially during spring but can be present throughout the year. We conduct our tours during this weather. Fog comes and goes at the canyon and can make for some of the most creative images. Lightning storms need to be treated with caution. They produce incredible opportunities for beautiful images but also opportunities for injury. We treat them with utmost caution and keep clients in our van if storms are nearby.
Additional Information – cancellation by Canyon Country Tours is exceptionally rare but may happen – if determined by Canyon Country Tours that unsafe conditions exist or for any other reason, we will either reschedule your tour at your convenience as available or we will issue a full refund. Bring your camera and hat and we’ll bring the rest – just be ready for a great day enjoying the sights and history of the Grand Canyon as presented by your knowledgeable local guide.
THE WORKS Grand Canyon day tour originates in Flagstaff, Williams, Tusayan or Grand Canyon Village every day. We’ve designed our tours to give you a positive, comfortable and informative experience. We don’t believe that being herded like cattle or being crammed into an overcrowded vehicle is the way to be treated. To ensure that you don’t have to endure that kind of memory, we only have small groups. Your day starts out when we pick you up at your hotel in one of our full size 12 passenger late model vans AND we limit our groups to a maximum of 8 guests. The ONLY exception to that is if a private tour is booked.
The amazing landscape of the Grand Canyon is truly a wonder to behold. We present it in a way allowing you to have this awesome experience in a personal and intimate way for your memories and enjoyment. We incorporate our knowledge of the History and Geology of the Grand Canyon along with the best viewing and photographic opportunities during our Grand Canyon DAY TOURS. This planning allows you to see the best locations at the optimal times of the day. We take the time to allow you to have a similar experience that for your trip. For those who may want a more photo memory trip, see our Photo Tour page.
Preparing for your Day Tour- throughout the year weather changes can occur rapidly. Plan on layered clothing and wear a hat. A jacket or sweatshirt should be brought as evenings can get into the 40-degree range even in summer. Sunscreen should always be worn and moisture wicking clothing is recommended. Bring chapstick. Although we will do all that is possible to help, it is your responsibility to check the weather and to bring what you will need. Comfortable shoes should be worn, with an emphasis on support. Although we don’t go on trails, there can be uneven ground and rocky terrain in some locations. Please plan for this. Tour length is approximate and includes travel time from and back to your pickup point
Liability Waiver – Although Licensed, Insured and Authorized by the GCNP and ADOT, a “Liability Waiver Release” form is required to be completed and signed prior to your tour. Some physical activity is involved even though we do not hike below the rim. Please note our restrictions at check out.
