Monsoon Magic Photo Workshops

Description of our 2 GRAND CANYON MONSOON MAGIC

photography workshops.

 

LIMITED TO 6 PARTICIPANTS PER WORKSHOP

 

Workshop dates are timed for the middle of Arizona's incredible monsoon season and for dark night skies!

 

Workshop 1 - July 24, 25, 26 and 27 with a bonus session on the morning of the 28th.

 

Workshop 2 - July 29, 30, 31 and Aug 1 with a bonus session on the morning of Aug 2.

 

These workshops are designed to be all inclusive for you to have the most opportunities for photographing the light, the landscape, the storms and even a night session for Milky Way (weather permitting). All rooms are inside the Grand Canyon National Park give access to easy transportation during down times.

 

Daily sunrise sessions and afternoon into sunset sessions will be in group settings

 

Grand Canyon Monsoon Magic Workshops include:

 

*  Single occupancy rooms within the National Park (4 nights)

*  Two days and nights on the North Room

*  Two days and nights on the South Room

*  Bonus session on checkout morning

*  2 meals per day ($50 daily food voucher)

*  Entrance fee to Grand Canyon National Park

*  Transportation within the GCNP during group activities

*  Transportation between the North and South Rims

*  Snacks and waters throughout the tour*

*  Professional Photography instruction

*  Photography review and processing sessions

 

We are licensed and insured to legally conduct workshops and tours within the Grand Canyon National Park (unfortunately some companies and individuals selling Monsoon workshops are not).

 

What's NOT included -

 

*  Transportation to the workshop (your ground or airfare)

*  Special dietary considerations

*  Any special accommodations beyond what was described

*  Handicapped vehicles

 

 

 

ITINERARY

 

Workshop #1

 

We start on July 24th at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, staying at Yavapai Lodge where you'll have a single occupancy air conditioned room. We will depart the South Rim after our morning shoot on the 26th and transition to the North Rim for the afternoon/sunset session that day. Travel to the North Rim will be across the picturesque Painted Desert and along the Vermilion Cliffs area of Arizona. We will be staying in single occupancy Frontier cabins for two nights at the North Rim, checking out after our sunrise shoot on the 28th. There will be an opportunity for one last session after breakfast and checkout. Departure will be after that.

 

Workshop #2

 

We start on July 29th at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, staying at the Grand Canyon North Rim Lodge where you'll have a single occupancy single occupancy Frontier cabins for two nights. We will depart the North Rim after our morning shoot on the 31st and transition to the South Rim for the afternoon/sunset session that day. Travel to the South Rim will be across the picturesque Painted Desert and along the Vermilion Cliffs area of Arizona. We will be staying on the South Rim at Yavapai Lodge where you'll have a single occupancy air conditioned room. Check out after our sunrise shoot on the Aug 2nd. There will be an opportunity for one last session after breakfast and checkout. Departure will be after that.

 

*Cancellations*

 

Monsoon Magic Cancellations 90 days in advance will receive full refund minus a $50.00 processing fee per person.

Cancellations less than 90 days from your scheduled date will receive a 50% refund.

Cancellations less than 60 from your workshop receive no refunds unless your reservation can be resold. We will always try to resell if possible.

 

*What to Wear & Special Needs*

 

Any "Special Needs" should be noted at the time of your reservation. This includes medical as well as dietary.

 

Again, weather changes can occur rapidly. Layer clothing and wear a hat. A jacket or sweatshirt should be brought as evenings can get into the 50 degree range even in summer. Sunscreen should always be worn and moisture wicking clothing is recommended. Bring chapstick. Although we will do all that is possible to help, it is your responsibility to check the weather and to bring what  you will need. Comfortable shoes should be worn, with an emphasis on support. Although we don't go on trails, there can be uneven ground and rocky terrain in some locations. Please plan for this.

 

*Rates and Payment*

 

Individual Photographers @ $2195.00 plus tax

 

A $500.00 deposit is due when registering which should be done with credit card via phone or email. The balance is due 90 days from the start of your workshop.

 

$200 Discount for full payment with registration if prior to  April 10, 2019.

 

Contact us directly for two or more photographers booking together and staying together or for a photographer with a non photographer guest.

 

Workshop participants must be at least 18 years old unless accompanied by an adult over 18. Requested age variance will be considered if written information of skill level is received prior to the trip and upon review of our directors. Non-photographers

 

Non-photographers are WELCOME and may accompany a full priced photographer if space is available.

 

*What Camera Gear to Bring*

 

* A Tripod (highly recommended and should be used)

* Extra batteries and memory cards

* Camera instruction book (if available or good working  knowledge of your camera's controls and functions)

* A wide angle lens 16mm - 35mm or similar

* A short to medium lens 24mm - 70mm or similar

* A medium to long telephoto lens 70mm - 200mm or similar is suggested.

* Polarizing filters for your lenses.

* Graduated neutral density filters (are very helpful)

* Remote shutter release (wired or wireless)

 

We want you not to have to "Photoshop" your images to any degree when you get home!

 

Things we will discuss are Composition, Lighting, Focus Stacking, HDR, the use of Live View, Histograms, and Photoshop, Raw Processing post processing and more!

*Liability Waiver *

Although Licensed and Insured and Authorized by the GCNP and ADOT, a "Liability Waiver Release" form is required to be completed and signed prior to your tour.

 

Some physical activity is involved even though we do not hike below the rim. Please note our restrictions at check out.
